The purpose of the BACKPACKS OF HOPE
is to meet the physical and spiritual needs of children
of the mission field of Appalachia and the southwest Georgia mission field.
Georgia Baptist Mission Board GOAL: 35,000 Backpacks
POBA will collect 400 backpacks for SW Georgia and the balance will go to Appalachia. 
We will collect backpacks through November 22, 2017.  Our projected ministry trip to southwest Georgia is December 1-2, 2017
POBA will be delivering Christmas Backpacks
to Walker & Livingston, Louisiana in 2016. 
This area was affected by flooding earlier this year. 
We will be working in cooperation with two new church plants in Walker and Livingston, LA. 
Our ministry trip will be from December 1-5
Please call the POBA to reserve your place.
Backpacks need to be delivered to New Union in Alma by November 18, 2016.
POBA collected 749 Backpacks for Appalachia 
and delivered 779 backpacks  
in cooperation with  
Macedonia Baptist of Clayton, GA
Georgia Baptist collected 29,424 backpacks in 2015.
A volunteer team from POBA delivered the backpacks December 4-6, 2015. 
We have partnered with a church in Whitley City, KY
Backpacks AND the contents need to be NEW.
Review the list of suggested items, “How to pack a Backpack” below.
Backpacks need to be packed in medium (18x18x16) size boxes.
Boxes need to be taped on the top and bottom, not just folded.
This year  The “Christmas Story” and the “A.R.M. Mailbox Bible Club” postcard need to be placed in each backpack.
